TissotGrape: Chardonnay
Vintage: 2022
Type: White
The Domaine Tissot "En Barberon" 2022 Chardonnay is a precise and complex expression of Jura's unique terroir. The wine showcases vibrant notes of ripe yellow fruit, citrus, and a strong mineral backbone, balanced by hints of toasted hazelnut and fresh butter. It has a silky texture with a long, elegant finish. Vinification highlights a minimal intervention approach, with grapes from old vines (1970s) being hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts. The wine ages for around 24 months in French oak barrels that are regularly topped up (ouillé) to prevent oxidation, resulting in a fresh and pure style. A notable detail of the 2022 vintage is that it was made without added sulfur, further highlighting its raw character.
Stéphane Tissot and his wife Bénédicte have 35 hectares of vineyards “cultivated in bio-dynamic viticulture (certified by Demeter) to allow the soils to live, to have grapes untouched by chemical products, to allow natural yeast fermentations, to reduce the doses of sulfur in the cellar.”
They produce truly unique, terroir-driven natural wines, wines we love, admire, and cherish. These are without doubt some of our most prized wines.
André and Mireille Tissot founded their estate in 1962, in the village of Montigny-les-Arsures, in the Jura. Stéphane took over from his father with a new vision and converted it to chemical-free farming, organic and then biodynamic. They are meticulous in their farming and in the cellar, producing up to 28 unique cuvees.
A wine made with love and passion produces an emotion... You can find in a wine the personality and the character of those who made it because each gesture, each operation, each decision has its importance.
