The vineyard sits at 150 meters on a south-facing ridge in the Sebastopol Hills, in Gold Ridge loam cooled by fog from the nearby Petaluma Gap. Unlike the estate's purchased-fruit bottlings, this one is entirely home-grown, farmed by the winemaker himself from planting to bottle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt displays a brick-edged garnet color, opening with dried red fruit, forest floor, and a mineral, sandy-soil note distinct to Gold Ridge ground. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame has resolved into something elegant and settled after more than 15 years, balancing softened fruit against silky, fully integrated tannin. Acidity remains bright and has carried the wine well past most Sonoma Coast pinots of the same age.
